Thanks to everyone who has joined Montana Musicians. It's only been a week and there are already 175 musicians signed up. Once the word spreads, I think we will have an amazing resource for musicians to communicate.
I would specially like to thank Levi Kujala and Dustin Tucker for their brains and artistic design.
Without them this site would have never happened.
In a matter of only a couple of days.....
1. I listened to some really cool music from people all over the state. Things I would never have heard before this site.
2. Saw some old friends that I used to play in a band with.
3. Learned about a couple of bands that I had never heard of.
4. Met new people I would have probably never met.
5. Saw videos I know I would have never seen.
Every time I sign on, I see something new and exiting.
We have always wanted to have a site that could link up musicians. 15 years ago in the old Music Villa store, we used to have a box of cards on the counter. If you were a musician you could write down what instrument you played and if you were a band you could search for a guitar player if you needed to. This worked pretty well for many years, but as you can imagine it had it's limitations. On our last website we had a great way for musicians to post ads about themselves. This also worked great for a few years but it was mainly just around Bozeman.
With this new site it's going to be a lot easier for Musicians from all over the state to connect in many different ways. So, thanks to everyone who is sharing their information. In a few days we are going to launch a new Montana Band directory. This site will be designed for people who are in search of bands to book for any type of occasion. All Montana bands will be able to submit a photo and bio to the site.
Please don't forget about the benefits you get when you are in a community like Montana Musicians. Help spread the word by using the "Invite" feature of MM. I've got a special stats page that shows me who's inviting people and you guys have been really doing a great job of spreading the word.
And finally, please be sure to support the music store closest to you in your Montana neck of the woods.
When you shop local you are keeping fellow Montanans employed which means you will keep your local venue strong, which means we will all still have a gig.
Thanks
Paul
