Here's a quick overview about what I play and who with...
I have played with the string band Prairie Rose for about 12 years. Members are Dave and Candace Payne and Les Benedict. We perform Americana which can range from Western Swing to Bluegrass, Folk or Country. I also perform solo, or with my brother Doug Melton occasionally. I am primarily a singer and guitar player. I can also play school house bass and am working on electric bass, mandolin, dobro and fiddle. I love to sing harmony as well as lead. My sons and husband are interested in more Rock and Blues lately so I am becoming really interested in Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bonnie Raitt, John Hiatt, and a slew of others. My musical tastes run crazy. They can be anything from Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys to ACDC, Bob Marley, The Temptations, The Stanley Brothers or Van Morrison.
I have my old Hohner acoustic guitar and a really wonderful Santa Cruz. We have 2 dobros ( one round neck one square), 2 fiddles, 2 electric guitars, an electric bass, and a mandolin.
hey right back at you...thanks SO much for coming in..... it made my night...you have a great voice..I'd love to work up some duets with you.....if you ever need a hired gun, I play bass as well as mandolin...and I'm for hire...........
Hey Tammie! Thanks for the add...yes, classically trained in school, then most of my "training" in other genres was done on the road in country, gospel and pop bands, etc. I went to college for a voice degree...but quickly left and went on the road for some real training!
Thank you for your kind words Tammie, and thanks for your friendship on this wonderful site! I love your photos also, Man, talk about making me 'homesick'... :O) Love your Band Fashions, keeping our beloved Montana Spirit alive & well. Good for you. Well done.
Until later, cheers, James Keith
Tammie...thank you for your kind comments,, I'm glad you like my songs...if you listen to the "studio" version of "The Wind" on my page, there is a harmony on / for it....take care and I hope to see you next time I'm in Helena which will be on April 16th
