Here's a quick overview about what I play and who with...
Ryan is a music education grad from the University of Montana. Originally from Great Falls, Ryan has had many experiences in the area of music that has developed him in the musician he is today.
Music was always any emphasis in his life. At the age of 4, Ryan began taking piano lessons under the close supervision of his mother, who taught music at the time. In 4th grade he started playing trumpet and tuba, and in 7th started playing bass guitar under the instruction of Rob Kohler. During high school, he began his venture with the upright bass. In college, Ryan continued learning to play other instruments while learning the art of teaching others. After college, he landed a job teaching in the public school system as a 5-12th grade band director. Teaching privately was always a true passion; one that he always had done on the side and became a full-time job in 2004.
In 2006, Ryan began fulfilling his dream of becoming a luthier. From that time to the present, Ryan has built 16 custom guitars and basses, all which have been special orders for clients. In the future, Ryan hopes to develop this angle of his business into a full-time position.
Over the years, Ryan has had many worthwhile musical experiences. He has played in many small combos in the rock, funk, fusion and jazz styles. Some notable people that he has performed with would be Peter Erskine, Buddy Defranco, Chuck Florence, David Morgenroth, Eden Atwood, Adam Nitti, Dave LaRue, Brian Bromberg, Eddie Tsuru, Tony Franklin, Gerald Veasley, as well as many others.
Currently Ryan teaches guitar, bass and piano full-time as well as maintaining a consistent flow of guitar projects in Missoula, Montana. He also plays regularly with his rock band "Landslide."
