How about you stop idolizing song writing and get down on your own muse? Song writing is a grind like every other dang thing. So, break out the templates and start babblin', man, and stop worrying about BMI looking over your shoulder. Seriously, I have a Hal Leonard book that whips a [c] on to "Ode to Joy," I mean, that's Beethoven.
I am feeling my way along in this business, combining media support for artists with my own video and music work.
This Montana Musicians site is the home page, since I live here.
Third, I am grateful to both Montana Musicians and Soundcloud.com coming up with the perfect song posting sites. The songs are original and the demo quality is home made, but it tells the story.
My You Tube Channel shows the state of the videos. It would be nothing without the collaboration of Montana Pro Audio and the great Butte musicians who have kindly worked on these projects. My You Tube Channel shows the state of that enterprise. It is open to all suggestions, with a very artist-friendly approach. Incidentally, the Jamie Johnson clip is worth the visit to my You Tube channel.
It is important to have some original material. TV is a publicity medium, along word of mouth, hard work on and off the stage, and CDs. You can't afford to overlook Video! If you have ever tried to license a cover song for a video, you know there has always been a problem for the indies. That is, until now.
On the Soundcloud.com page, above, I have made free and available backing comps that the performer can take and turn into his or her own copyrighted work. That is as simple as I can state it.
(Between writing and recording country music backing tracks, now corresponding with performers, videography has taken something of a back burner for now. I had to turn the music video production department over to God. You'll be happy to know that he is doing a swell job. Just be aware that sometimes you have to go through the switchboard to get through. Go to my
My You Tube Channel to see examples of my music videos.
See Butte's Ken Rich nail "Livin' on a Dream" last month at a benefit in Butte. Montana Pro Audio did the mix. Throw Montana Pro Audio all the roses we can. Montana Pro Audio is the best! www.montanaproaudio.com.
The Mordecai video was shot in an attic studio with one mic. The River Rose "Take it to the Limit" had the benefit of a Montana Pro Audio mix.
If you or your band is ready for a video, run the plan by the department head. Normally, all requests are granted. Be advised, though, that I am one who promises video magic and is accustomed to making good on that promise. Use your own judgement.
Babblin' Heartless, by Ed Shaw
Demonstration of template for add your own words to create ownership. Useful for avoiding hard feelings on the part of licensees or copyright holders, some of whom do not play in bands. This song turned over to public domain.

If you can hang in to the end, you'll hear the foundation song.
