Listen... man.

I'm looking for a job in missoula so I can move there. Anybody have any leads? I have a lot of experience with manual labor and assembly line production work, but working with people would be fun. I'm just talking about something full time (hell I'd take part time) so I can pay rent. I'm also looking for a room to rent so if someone needs to fill a room also head to my page and we can talk something out.See More

Profile Information

My Montana Area
Missoula Area
Music categories I best fit into...
bass, drums, percussion, songwriter, keyboard, piano, orchestral
Here's a quick overview about what I play and who with...
Looking for a job (not music related) and a place to stay so I can move to Missoula. Help a brother out if you can. I don't want to go to a strange new place and only hope to get a new job there. (too many times...)

My actions are usually somewhat reserved, yet calculated. My temper can sometimes be mellow, yet passionate. I've taken some time to figure out some sounds I like, yet exploration is always foremost in thought.
I have no marketable skills in music in my opinion, because my experience is strangely vague, or vaguely strange... I can't remember which.
Love to play the drums, enjoy fingering the piano, like strumming a guitar, and adore the melodica, and for a while now, obsess over programming a korg synthesizer.

I've played with a few different people throughout the last 6 years or so but lately its been a solo venture.

Hey,
I don't know if you are still considering Missoula, but I wanted to let you know that a group of friends and myself might try to form a group to create and perform music in the vain of tortoise, lotus, sts9 etc. Right now the instrumentation is two guitars (both of us play lead and rhythm), bass and drums. We are looking for someone to play keys/laptop/turntables or whatever else might sound good. If you are interested, let me know.

The drummer has another band. Here's the myspace: http://www.myspace.com/ieharmony
The bassist has a couple personal projects. In both of these, he made all the sounds you hear:
Experimental: http://www.myspace.com/pigsforpeace
Stoner metal: http://www.myspace.com/muffbuzzard

Everything is kind of a dead zone outside Bozeman and Missoula. I agree with Luke, Missoula has the most diversity and acceptance to any genre. What kind of venues do you prefer to play? Bars, coffee shops, AA venues?

If you're looking to play folk in Montana, you'll find yourself playing a lot of coffee shops and restaurants for little pay. at the bars people wanna rock out or dance. hope that helps! talk soon. -Dustin

Well the music scene isn't great here or anywhere in Montana. Missoula is by far the best bet for finding something, Missoula or Bozeman maybe. Missoula is the most diverse city I think relative to the rest of Montana but that could be argued. I love it here except not a lot going on musically. There are a few good local bands, and plenty of musicians I think you could find. Not a lot of bands tour through here though but we get a few good ones once and awhile.

If you're still thinking about coming to Missoula, I would love to collaborate. I'm interested in starting up several projects, one of which is an electronic colab to combine ambient/triphop/experimental with jam/jazz/funk. I would like to create music that is intellectually stimulating and fun to see live.
