Ever want to play a medley of songs and have smooth transitions from one to the other?? I am going to list two transitions that work well every time. If you have some similar suggestions, please add them to the list.
Lets say you want to change from the Tonic key to key of the 5 Chord. Start on the Tonic Chord, go a whole step up. You will be on the five chord of the five chord. Works every time. Try it for yourself. Play a song in the Key of G. Pick another song in the Key of D. When you are done with your song in G, resolve to the G Chord, move up one step to the A chord. A is the five chord of the key of D. Give it a shot. It works.
Ok lets try another. You want to change from the tonic key to the major key of third note in the key you are in. For example, you are playing in the key of C and you want to transition to a song in the Key of E. Make a series of changes that end on the relative minor. In this case, that would be Am. Change from Am to a B7sus4. Drop the sus 4 a half step and you are on B7. That is the five chord of the Key of E. You are set to go. Try it yourself. Its a very smooth transition. And, it will work in different keys.
