Montana Musicians

For anyone looking to branch out creatively and put a progressive group together for writing, recording and live performances this could be a great opportunity.

Right now the greatest need is for a bassist and drummer. If you play keys   or guitar I'm all about discussing how that would fit together as well. The  chance to primarily sing lead vocals is very appealing to me and it's great to allow for flexibility within the group.

You: Please provide any info you can about your experience and current equipment, projects and ideas. The concept is for this to be an active, collaborative group where everyone brings something to the table. Any recordings, videos or resources demonstrating your work would be greatly appreciated.

Me: I am a strong lead vocalist and charismatic front-man with years of guitar and keyboard experience. There are several original videos and songs on my profile. You can also find me on facebook under Matt Sheils where I have added plenty of material.

My influences range from Beck, U2, Coldplay, The Roots, Tom Petty, RHCP, XX, and many more.

I write my own music. Cover tunes are fine as a compliment to whatever else we have put together. I create multimedia content and graphic design work under the business name Matt Made Media, which helps a bit with promotion as things progress.

Gear: I currently own a KORG Triton proX keyboard that is outstanding for live performance and recording. Otherwise I'm set with a great acoustic/electric Takamine and functional home recording equipment for demos and multimedia production. I work with Reason and Sonar software primarily.

Space: I have a great workspace available where I live for acoustic jamming and recording at decent hours of the day. When we are looking to crank it up we'll have to find a spot for that.

Look me up and share some ideas...

Hey Matt,

Just found this site. I really don't know how to classify what I do or how I do it because it is so different than anything out there. I have a unique way of playing harmonica. Although I can play by ear any song even if I've not heard it before across the genres, the style lends well to playing classic rock.country/southern rock songs that typically have no harmonica in them. (House of the Rising Sun, Sweet Home Alabama, Wanted Dead or Alive, etc). It is unique and the audience loves the sound as well no one else has anyone doing it. At the very least would love to chat and maybe meet and have you hear me to see if there might be an oportunity there. I also write, which is what am doing at the moment, many things I have written I have been told need to be turned into songs. As well I have 20 years sales and marketing background. I would say I am highly creative and am finally acting on what should have done much sooner.

JJ

btw ..where are you located?
Hi JJ,

Good to hear from you. I want to hear some of your work because it sounds very unique! If you have a specific spot online where you have some material I can listen to please advise. I have Mon-Wednesday night next week open if we need a night to see how things work musically.

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the add on Facebook and for your reply here. Currently I don't have anything on-line for you to hear. I will work on something to post and send you the link or file directly. I caught something this week that just knocked me out for the last three days......just starting to feel better today...congested, short of breath, fever..it sucked. I would have gotten back to you sooner but I didn't even have the energy to respond when I got your message the other day...... Monday or Wednesday will work next week for me. Probably be best if we meet in person....not sure I would be able to capture very well what it is or how I play via an amatuer clip that I did.
